I don't mean to brag or anything but....Okay yeah I do. I do mean to brag. Ive met some really amazing and beautiful people from my time working backstage and this post is just to rub it in your faces.

Im obsessed with models so working with them is like the best thing ever to me.

I worked with Anne- Marie for the whole week of Fashion Fest last year and she was such a sweet girl with the cutest accent!

She recently shot for ByJohnny's S/S 11 collection look book.

Ollie Henderson

Ive worked with Ollie a few times and she is literally the COOLEST person ever.

Her style is as flawless as her body of work.

This girl has pretty much worked for everyone but you can check her out more recently in the Romance Was Born' The Miraculous Mundane'  pre-collection 12 lookbook.  '

Rachel Rutt

 I had the pleasure of meeting and dressing Rachel at Fashion Week just passed.

She is one of my all time favourite models so naturally I had to literally bags her rack so that I could meet her. 

Shes graced the covers of countless magazines, walked for some of the worlds greatest designers and more recently appeared in the 'Women of style' spread in the May 2012 issue of Marie Claire Australia.

Samantha Harris

Sam was the absolute nicest girl that Ive ever had the pleasure of working with, again I literally bags'ed her for the 'Roopa Pemmaraju' show at Fashion week this year.

Well on her way to becoming Australia's first Aboriginal supermodel, shes graced the covers of Vogue Australia, madison and Shop til' you drop AND she's one of the faces of David Jones alongside Miranda Kerr and is STILL on her way up.

 Zac and Jordan Stenmark

Im really scared of male models and I dont know why, so when I chose to face my fear and dress Jordan, one of the most famous twins in the world at Fashion week, I was shocked by how down to earth and easy going these guys were. Me and Jordan even had an inside joke. That basically makes us besties right?

They've worked with everyone from Tom Ford to Calvin Klein to Prada. 

Just as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside, an absolute pleasure to work with.

This group of lovely people are just a small chunk of beautiful faces Ive gotten to work with but I hope Ive made you all insanely jealous of me x

Prabal Gurung Fall '12

A collection that manages to balance all of the elements and principles of design and still avoid becoming a disaster of dreck proportions, is in my book, an amazing feat for any designer, a feat in which Prabal Gurung continue's to achieve. As seen in his Fall 2012 collection....

 

Runway order can play a very important role in the way in which a collection is perceived a rule in which Prabal Gurung used very much to his advantage at NYFW earlier this year. The first 3 and a half minutes saw a sea of Black capes, jackets, fur coats and metal accessories.

 

Gradually colour began coming down the runway, still perfectly contrasting the consistant Black, bold pops of royal metallic blues, golden yellows and pristine whites mixed with intricate silky fabric prints (which were a subtle continuation from his Spring collection which saw bold prints and fabrics in purple hues.) 

The key to any good collection, in my eyes, is appropriate trend incorporation. Gurung took advantage of  popular 2012 features like geometrical cut outs, bold lame fabrics, fur and leather experimentation and sheer panelling and worked them into his collection in an inspiring and avant garde way, truely making it his own.

You know I love a good feathered skirt and this dress is truely design at its finest. From the heavy neck piece to the contrast of the lace bodice with the feathered skirt, everything screams statement piece.

I am living for this dress! The feminine shapes created by the gathered sheer embelishments juxtaposed the hard and intricate lines of the gold print create a perfect harmony.

Can you say Androgyny chic?



Now I am personally loving anything with a leather or vinyl embelishment and this heavy bomber jacket is in my opinion a must have! The neutral tone means you can work it into almost any outfit and its basically gender neutral (if you have the right frame of course.)

Off the raging success of his previous collections, Gurung has become a celebrity favourite with clientel featuring the likes of  Zoe Saldana (who was front row at his Fall '12 show dressed in a mixed pant suit from his earlier spring collection)

and also 'The Hunger Games' actress Jennifer Lawrence, who stole the show at the movie's Los Angeles premier in Gurung's gold lame, triangle cut out gown.

What will the future hold for the fresh and talented designer? One can only predict greatness and it is no surprise this collection is by far one of my favourites from the entire season and as a designer he is  definately one to watch.

Style on a budget.

If like me, you have champagne taste on a beer budget then you will understand how painfully hard it is to stay on trend or at least look mildly fashionable without completely bankrupting yourself.

People are always asking me how I manage to keep afloat style wise when Im so fund insufficient,

so I wrote this for those of you who dont have the money to buy fresh off the runway Givenchy or spend $300 on a single shirt or if you pass out at the very thought of even walking past designer boutiques.

Here are a few basic rules to stick to:

1. Firstly, dont be afraid to buy your basic fashion items like T-shirts, jeans etc from chain stores and stores with sale prices, sometimes you have to sacrifice quality for your budget but if you have a keen eye and youre willing to put in the effort you will often find a diamond in the rough.  (A lot of people will judge you for doing this but those people are probably rich and douchey).

For those guys who are not afraid to wear a coloured skinny and want to stay 'on trend', a washed out colour like this is a really good staple to have in your wardrobe and is a subtle nod to the colour explosion in menswear on the runway.

For the ladies its eaven easier to be in style without breaking the bank as most sale stores will stock runway inspired basics from the season.

A Polyurethane legging is a good way to separate yourself from what society is wearing and a step closer to achieving high fashion realness.

2. Secondly, don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and invest in thrift shopping! Literally my favourite way to save money and improve my own style. If you are somewhat afraid of doing this, you really shouldnt be because the stigma attached to buying second hand is what keeps most people from achieving ultimate stylishness.

This is like my favourite jacket ever. Its a knit w/ 3 quarter sleeves and an over sized hood.

I think it was around $5 from a thrift store in Western Sydney.

3. Thirdly, if youve been following the previous two rules for a little while, chances are youve saved up enough to be able to afford a statement piece from the designer of your choice (Only ever buy designer if it is a statement piece so that way you can keep working it back into your wardrobe that way its not just something that you can only wear once)

Im loving Parkas at the moment. Its definately a strong nod to the 90's but in a colour as bright as this orange, the classic is given a much needed revival.

4. Don't be afraid of experimenting with clothing outide of your gender. That will obviously freak men out more than it will women but it is honestly a great way to both save money and find a better fit.  Ever heard of Androgyny? Well its kind of a huge trend right now and if you are a smaller guy or a bigger girl, accentuating that part of yourself can really do wonders for your look and its something that I experiment with everyday in my own wardrobe.

Being able to wear both mens and womens clothes

 has both its physical and fiscal advantages.

5. Finally, probably the greatest advice I can give you on maintaining style on a budget would be to be your own fashion dictator and by that I mean start trends yourself. Being truely fashionable isnt purely about wearing everything that comes off the runway each season, its about using your own creativity and interpretations of the things you love to create an ensemble that inspires and reflects who you are as an individual.
